Botox, Dysport, Xeomin & Jeuveau: Which Wrinkle-Reducing Injectable Is the Best Option for You

Linden Tyler, an expert in the beauty industry, famously said: “Invest in your skin. It will serve as your long-term representative. Bergen County Botox has everything you need.

Even with a thorough skincare routine, wrinkles will still develop as you get older. As you age, your skin naturally loses its elasticity, leaving behind fine lines and wrinkles. In such circumstances, new skincare products could not be sufficient, and you’ll need to make an investment in new skincare products to reduce the visibility of wrinkles. The ideal choice? injectables that reduce wrinkles, including Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau.

Although all four neurotoxic injectables are essentially the same, there are minor variations in the target locations and dosage required to produce outcomes. We’ll describe preparation, recovery, and how long each lasts to help with decision-making.

Botox

Describe it.

In order to temporarily lessen “the underlying muscle activity that causes moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines in adults—to help them look noticeably smoother,” the Botox Cosmetic brand uses a botulinum toxin A. It is the first and only method of wrinkle and fine-line reduction to receive FDA approval in the United States.

Candidacy Conditions

Candidates often have mild to severe facial creases on the forehead, around the neck, or between the eyes. Additionally, they are in generally good condition and have reasonable expectations for the treatment. You cannot get Botox if you have an allergy to any of the product’s ingredients, have a severe disease or skin infection, are pregnant or nursing, or have a muscular or nerve disorder.

Getting Ready & Recovering

To prepare for Botox injections, stop drinking alcohol at least 24 hours beforehand, abstain from smoking and anti-inflammatory drugs for two weeks, stay out of the sun in the days leading up, and avoid waxing, bleaching, or tweezing the area. Tell your doctor about any medications you are taking now. In the days before your operation, carefully wash your face.

Botox has associated with no downtime. Usually, patients return right away to their regular routines. However, wait at least five hours before engaging in any exercise. Apply cold packs if you experience discomfort or bruises. Hold off on touching your face.

What is the duration of it?

Approximately one to two weeks after treatment, results should start to show. The American Society of Plastic Surgery states that Botox should last three to four months, but individual results may vary. Some people may have it for up to six months, while others might only experience it for two months.

Dysport

What Is Dysport?

The prescription injection Dysport, a different brand of botulinum toxin A, is used to treat “moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows by inhibiting particular muscle activation.” To momentarily stop muscular contractions, it is injected into five precise locations between and above the eyebrows. The FDA-approved to treat frowns and forehead lines.

Candidacy Conditions

Candidates for Dysport typically have realistic expectations for the outcomes, are 18 years of age or older, and are in generally good health. Additionally, they have crow’s feet or frown lines. If you have a skin infection, are allergic to any of the components or the protein from cow’s milk, or are pregnant or nursing, you are not a candidate.

Getting Ready & Recovering

Similar to Botox preparation, you should abstain from alcohol, aspirin, vitamin E, and smoking before your appointment. Likewise, adhere to the preparation guidelines provided by your surgeon. With Dysport, recuperation time is minimal to nonexistent.

What is the duration of it?

Results should start to show two days following the operation. The complete effects may not be felt for up to 10 days. Since this brand only lasts for three to four months, you will require more injections annually.

Xeomin

What Is It If Xeomin?

Xeomin, a prescription injectable that prevents “the release of hormones that produce these muscle contractions so frown lines are eased,” is the third botulinum toxin A. As long as the corrugator and/or procerus muscles are active, the FDA also approved it for “temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines.”

Candidacy Conditions

Candidates for Xeomin have frown lines between their eyes, are generally healthy, and have reasonable expectations of the results. Use caution when using Xeomin if you have allergies to any of its ingredients, a skin problem, or a history of allergic reactions to other treatments containing botulinum toxin.

Getting Ready & Recovering

Botox and Dysport preparations are comparable to Xeomin preparation. To make sure you’re prepared for the procedure, adhere to your surgeon’s recommendations. Xeomin does not require a recovery period, but you should still adhere to your doctor’s aftercare recommendations. Avoid lying down for 90 minutes, refrain from massaging the area, and skip exercising for 24 hours. There is a reduced likelihood of resistance because Xeomin lacks complex proteins.

What is the duration of it?

Within four days of the injections, patients can see visible changes, but it may take up to a week for the full effects to manifest. Xeomin is effective for three to four months.

Jeuveau

Describe it.

Jeuveau, the most recent form of botulinum toxin A, is “a prescription drug that is injected into muscles and used in adults for a short period of time (temporary) to improve the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows.” The FDA granted its approval in February 2019.

Candidacy Conditions

Jeuveau’s eligibility requirements are comparable to those for the neurotoxic products described above. Patients have fair expectations for results and experience brow furrowing. If you have a skin illness, are under the age of 18, allergic to any of Jeuveau’s ingredients, or have previously had a response to other treatments containing botulinum toxin A, you shouldn’t use it.

Getting Ready & Recovering

Tell your doctor about all of the medications you are currently taking. Follow your surgeon’s preparation and recuperation recommendations just like you would with the first three products stated. Patients should typically abstain from alcohol and anti-inflammatory drugs both before and after treatment. “Localized discomfort, infection, inflammation, tenderness, edema, erythema, and/or bleeding/bruising” are side effects that patients may experience after treatment.

What is the duration of it?

According to studies, patients see results two days after the surgery. The typical duration of results is three to four months.

Make an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Galope to evaluate which injectable treatment is best for your fine lines and wrinkles.

It should be highlighted that patients should follow a certain skincare routine in addition to taking injectables. After the neurotoxins take effect, Dr. Galope also advises routinely having radiofrequency microneedling and laser resurfacing to smooth out the lower two-thirds of the face.
